Edmundo Lopez and Justin Smith at Colonie Harmonie

This summer, Edmundo Lopez and Justin Smith, two GCS students, served with Colonie Harmonie, a two-week Bible camp in Ardèche, France, hosted by the French-speaking churches of Christ in Europe. This year, 90 children and teens ages 6–17 participated.

Justin shared some background on the camp and his experience:

“Edmundo and I worked together as counselors more than a decade ago, when he was a student in Geneva. This year, Edmundo returned from Bolivia with his family so his daughter, Jazmín, could attend camp. Edmundo and his wife, Daniela, served on the technical staff, and Edmundo also taught. It was a wonderful blessing to spend time together again.

Camp is a key part of our ministry here—not only to strengthen the faith of our young people but also to evangelize. A third or more of the children who attend come from unbelieving or nominally Christian households, and the two weeks are often a powerful opportunity for them to discover who Christ is and to experience God’s love in action.”
