Erick Rodriguez Sosa

Current GCS Student

Erick Rodriguez Sosa serves as the minister of Iglesia de Cristo Praderas in Saltillo, Mexico—a congregation deeply rooted in his own story. Growing up in the church where his grandfather, Victor, once preached, Erick stepped into ministry when Victor retired, embracing the opportunity to serve the place that shaped his faith.

After high school, Erick pursued his passion for ministry by studying at the Baxter Institute in Honduras, alongside fellow GCS students David Lopez and Daniel Rodriguez. Upon graduating, he returned to Memphis with his parents before the door opened for him to lead the Praderas congregation. This transition coincided with his acceptance into HST, where he is now over halfway through his MACM, with plans to continue to an MDiv.

Since Erick’s arrival, the Praderas church has experienced remarkable growth, with attendance nearly doubling to 60-70 members—many of them young families, teenagers, and children. To accommodate this vibrant community, the church is expanding its space. Beyond numerical growth, the congregation has embraced a spirit of mission, launching initiatives such as a hospital visitation program, a neighborhood recycling initiative, and tutoring opportunities, including English classes. Erick’s leadership has helped cultivate this outward focus, inspiring members to take an active role in their community. Whereas some congregations are lead by the preacher, Erick serves on a leadership team of five to internally strengthen and support the growing congregation.

Erick’s dedication extends beyond his local church. Since graduating from Baxter, he has been teaching certificate courses for church leaders across Latin America. Recognizing his passion for education, Baxter recently appointed him as an adjunct professor in 2025, making him one of two GCS-supported faculty members alongside Daniel Rodriguez.

Reflecting on the past three years, Erick is amazed by the transformation in his life—from a Bible Institute graduate with no set plans to a minister, professor, and graduate student. His story is a testament to the power of opportunity and his commitment to sharing the blessings he receives.
